Zachery Dereniowski, also known as MDmotivator, is a popular Canadian YouTuber, TikToker, and Instagramer who focuses on providing mental health-related material.

1. His school days and DECISIONS

Most people who are familiar with Zachery have seen the famous person, who has more than 11 million subscribers and followers on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Though fame is a byproduct of his efforts to connect with people and improve the world; it is not his primary objective. Zachery failed his exams at the University of Windsor when he was 18 years old, which is when it all began. He had to start thinking to himself, ‘Who is MDMotivator?’

Zachery sighed as he remembered those earlier times, “I’ve always known I wanted to serve people. “However, I now have a fresh desire to disprove others. So I thought that becoming a doctor would be the best way to combine helping people with disproving others.

Who is MDMotivator

He studied more than ever and spent six years immersed in research. Eventually, a student exchange program took him to Melbourne, Australia. He opted to finish his medical school and pursue a career as a doctor in Australia after falling in love with the country. So he started studying medicine at the University of Sydney in January 2020. After a few weeks, he experienced a six-year breakup with his girlfriend. Two weeks later, he fractured his knee and required surgery, which force him to not work out or participate in sports. 

Zachery was left alone and without someone to rely on because of this incident, which occurred during the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Just his thoughts formed a dark cloud around him—no friends, no way out.

He said that “I went for a walk and ended up crying right in the middle of this busy Sydney intersection,” “These busy businessmen were walking beside me and at that moment, I felt like the air I’m invisible to them.” 

It’s becoming darker and he had suicidal ideation. But he went to seek help. In order to do it, he was instructed to begin keeping a record of his ideas.

2. Who is MDMotivator? The turning point

He explained…
“I purchased a $5 diary and wrote in it, I believe that someone else will have a similar experience. I wanted to make a companion who has experience in this field, or who is one step ahead of me”. 

Zachery then created a TikTok account, mdmotivator, and posted his first video. He finished his day in medical school after uploading it, however, he was unprepared for the reaction he received.

He got over 500,000 views and thousands of comments and people from eight to eighty shared their stories. He was surprised that viewers are so willing to share their stories with a stranger.

He has discovered a niche that he can finally fit. He makes additional videos and content, shares his own mental health struggles in medical school, and assists others in opening up about and dealing with their own challenges.

This inspired Zachery to start the Mental Health Movement, a production firm that produces podcasts and branded clothes to benefit charitable initiatives and collect funds for high school and college students.

He partnered up with his friend Patrick Glaz and started filming. He came from a vulnerable situation, and no one hugged him during the two years of the pandemic. As a result, he walked about with a placard giving free hugs to everybody, regardless of vaccination status, or sat down with them to chat about their concerns.

The concept of getting to know someone across socially recognized barriers on various issues in order to provide unconditional love struck a chord. Hugs, finally lead to locating the less fortunate and aiding them. 

His next goal is to spread his altruism to more people.
